Therapy Sessions

Frequently Asked Questions

Therapy sessions last 1 hour, which includes 5 minutes at the beginning and end for arrival and departure. In terms of duration of therapy, I offer short-term, long-term or open-ended therapy.

  • What is the cost of a therapy session?

A therapy session costs £65 per hour. I review my fees at the start of each year.

  • What payment methods can I use?

I accept payment by BACS transfer or cash.

  • Are you insured?

I am a fully insured practioner.

  • What is Gestalt therapy?

Gestalt psychotherapy is a creative approach to therapy with an emphasis on healing through relationship. The German word Gestalt, in fact, means pattern or form and so during our time together, depending on what fits your situation and needs, we might:

    • explore stuck, habitual or outdated patterns arising from your experience
    • focus on your present moment-to-moment experience
    • pay attention to your body process
    • explore how your history has shaped you or
    • support you experiment with new ways of being.

During our time together I will listen compassionately and with respect. I will take account of your individuality, as well as providing non-judgemental support and appropriate challenge in respect of the growth and change you seek in your life.

  • Do you have a waiting area if I am early or if the weather is bad?

The area outside my room is limited, without seating and unsuitable for waiting. However if the weather is bad, you can shelter in the small enclosed porch at the front door. With this in mind, do please come as close to your session start time as possible.

  • Are there toilet facilities within the building?

Toilet facilities are situated on the ground floor. To access toilets, there are two average height steps and four doors requiring one or two tight turns. Toilet facilities within the building have no special adaptations.

  • Is your building and workspace wheelchair accessible?

My room is accessible for wheelchairs. However there is a small step (approx. 10cm high) at the street entrance to the porch area of the building before entering my room. Toilet facilities are not specially adapted and can only be accessed via a corridor with two standard height steps and through four doors, some with tight turns.

  • Is there parking nearby?

Whether you are arriving for a therapy session or for a creative class, you will find plenty of parking close by in either Greenside or Kingsmeadows car parks. Both are no more than 5 minutes walk away. Greenside incurs a small charge and Kingsmeadows is free. At the east end of Peebles, the Edinburgh Road car park offers free parking on weekdays and is a 5-6 minute walk away.
